I will be hosting an “Introduction to POTA” event on Saturday November 14, 2026 from 9:00am to noon at Myakka State Forest.  I will stick around after the event for anyone to wants to take the opportunity to activate the park or observe a park activation. I will cover the following:

  • Basic Rules
  • Researching a Park to Activate
  • Equipment Setup
  • Activating a Park, making QSOs
  • Submitting Logs

The Myakka State Forest is located at 2000 S River Rd, Englewood, FL 34223. Drive down the gravel road about 1/2 mile and there is a covered pavilion on the left just after the park offices. It would be very beneficial if you registered with the parksontheair.com website before attending. That way an contacts you make or if you make the minimum number of 10 contacts required you could actually “activate” the park under your own call sign.
