Shark’s Tooth Festival – 2018

K4S QSL CardThe Tamiami ARC will be operating SE Station K4S from 13 to 15 April 2018 in support of the Venice Sharks Tooth Festival. This annual event in Venice, Florida, which is known as the sharks tooth capital of the world, is held near Caspersen Beach which is noted for its excellent yield of sharks teeth. Income from the Festival benefits the Special Athlete Boosters of Sarasota County.

Operations are planned for SSB, CW and digital modes. Look for us on 40, 20, 17 and 15 meters. QSL is via Jack Sproat-W4JS or W4AC. Stateside stations PSE include SASE. DX PSE include SAE + two US$ or QSL via the Bureau.

We will include a small sharks tooth with our direct QSL replies. Also, a certificate will be awarded to those stations which contact K4S three times, i.e., on three bands, three modes or a combination of bands and modes. If you attain that goal, please include a #10 SASE with your direct QSL, or you may send your e-mail address to w4js@juno.com and we will e-mail your certificate, which you can print out.

A great time was had by ALL. Unfortunately, the event was closed early Sunday morning due to inclement weather. Isn’t our new pop-up tent pretty! Thank you Tom Porada (W4IEE) for all the art work and ordering for the tent.
