Digital Comms on V/UHF
The Sarasota Emergency Radio Club has developed and maintains an extensive network of digipeters, WinLink packet and WinLink VARA FM gateways supporting all of Sarasota County. Using this packet radio network with WinLink or other digital modes is very easy. Download and install the WinLink program and purchase a sound modem device with appropriate cable to connect to your radio.
- WinLink website. Create an account and download the software.
- SignaLink USB sound modem
- RigBlaster USB sound modem
- Your radio may have a sound modem builtin – RTFM
- There are other external sound modems available
- UZ7HO sound modem software vesion 1.13 (required for packet WinLink).
Download and unzip to a directory. No install necessary. Other software exists online. - greater speed with VARA FM ($)
