AREDN in Sarasota County
The Sarasota Emergency Radio Club has been promoting and building an Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) in the county since 2018. The network has expanded slowly from north county into south county. In 2022 TARC dedicated funds and W4AC tower space to help bring AREDN into south county. This followed the SERC establishment of a new AREDN node on the roof of the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice with a solid 5 GHz backbone into the north county network.
