TARC DMR Chat Net Moved

It has come to our attention that Brandmeister has recently updated the description for the “TACtical” Talk Groups,  TAC 310 to TAC 319, to indicate specifically that these channels should not be used for Nets.  They even included 3 (Three!!!) exclamation points!!!

Accordingly, effective Tuesday, November 23, 2021, we will be moving the TARC Tuesday night DMR Chat Net from TAC 315 to the Tamiami Amateur Radio Club “private” Talk Group – 310442

If you use the W4AC 444.1 repeater, you will need to confirm that you have this Talk Group programmed as a channel for the repeater in your radio.  If you use a Hot Spot, you need to add the talk group to your Hot Spot programming in your radio.

The unfortunate downside of this change is that if you are out of the local area, it is unlikely that any repeaters you can reach will support the TARC Talk Group.  As near as we can tell, very few, if any of our seasonal visitors have been checking in via a local repeater but have been using hot spots instead, so we are hopeful this will not be a major disruption for anybody.  On the up side, it’s highly unlikely that we will ever have to wait for someone in Chicago to get off the Talk Group so we can start the net!
