Get Off Your Butt – Feb2025

TRAC is again offering an incentive to club members in good standing to “get off your butt” and get a license upgrade. Too many new hams get the Technician license, play around with comms and nets on 2m or 70cm for a few months, and then promptly lose interest in the hobby. The “real” action in ham radio takes place on the HF bands where world-wide contacts can be made. As a Technician, you have very few privileges on the HF bands and can only use voice on a small portion of the 10m band (28.300 to 28.500 MHz). Having an upgraded license will open up an entire new and exciting aspect of your ham radio experience.  This offer applies to TARC members that upgrade from Technician to General, or upgrade from General (or Advanced) to Amateur Extra.

The 2025 incentive offer runs form Jan 11 through July 12, 2025. It applies only to TARC members in good standing (2025 dues paid) and who test for their upgraded license with our TARC VE team. The terms of this offer are:

• Must be a TARC member is good standing prior to the date of the test session (no joining at the test session)
• Must test with the TARC VE team
• Only one upgrade per person per year will be awarded
• Must upgrade from Tech to General, or from General (or Advanced) to Amateur Extra
• Paid Associate TARC members are considered members in good standing. If they first get a Technician license and then upgrade to General (either the same day or at a later date) they qualify for this offer.
• Only 11 gift cards are available.  First come, first serve

• Your exam fee ($15 for adults) will be refunded
• Your 2026 TARC dues are paid  ($25 value)
