All Around Charter Bus

Top2

Hello TARCies,

LAST DAY TO SIGNUP IS MONDAY FEB 3rd

For those that haven’t been to Hamcation before, let me tell you that it is the second largest Hamfest in the country and getting bigger every year. There is a huge building filled with all the top name ham-related vendors. A second building is full of smaller or lesser-known vendors. A third building is full of used equipment (flea market) sellers. There are also acres of used equipment for those of you, who in true ham spirit, like to drive a hard bargain with the seller. I am certain you will be tired long before seeing everything. As if that isn’t enough, there are also seminars on a variety of ham topics.

Being tired before seeing everything is one of the advantages of riding on the bus. The bus will be open for you to come back and take a snooze before hitting more flea market or indoor vendors. It’s also a great place to store your purchases rather than lugging the heavy stuff around. The price of our bus ride is cheaper than driving to and from Orlando and…you don’t have to do the driving. The bus fare also includes a tip for the driver. Food and beverages are permitted on the bus, but we ask that you clean up your area when done. Also dancing in the aisle is strictly frowned upon.

PICKUP LOCATION IN VENICE IS CHAGED

Due to the construction at the Coast Guard Station, pick-up this year is slightly changed. You may park and have the bus pick you up at the public beach area of Sharkey’s parking lot. The big parking lot at Sharkey’s is really two parts. One part for restaurant patrons and the other for public use. We will be near the two-story publicly-owned structure (think bathrooms, outdoor shower) at the opposite end from Sharkey’s restaurant. Pick-up in Venice is 6:30 am. For those that live in the greater Sarasota area, we can pick you up at the Sarasota Red Cross building as we have done in the past. Pick-up for you will be about 7:00 am, depending on traffic conditions and other variables.

Going home is also as we have done in the past. The bus will leave Orlando no later than 4:00 pm. We stop at the Red Cross to let off passengers and then travel back to our starting location in Sharkey’s parking lot. You should be home in time for a late-ish dinner.

RESERVE AND PAY ONLINE or contact a club officer to reserve your seat.

Hope to see you on the bus,
Frank W2XYZ
