Scouts Jamboree on the Air

Scouts Jamboree, October 19-20th, 2024,

Jamboree-on-the-Air, or JOTA, is the largest Scouting event in the world. It is held annually the third full weekend in October. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation, and in your own community. This year the event will be on October 19-20th, 2024 at Brohard Paw and Beach Park, 1600 Harbor Dr. S. in Vencie.

Joe N3SX and John N9OU are both scout leaders in the Venice area and as part of this national event they will be conducting a major amateur radio merit badge qualification event for the scouts attending this Jamboree. There will be four HF stations set up for the event. They will be coordinating with Steve NS4P for the band filters, and Steve will loan the scouts his TW portable antenna.

Club members are invited to stop by the Brohard Park, 1600 Harbor Dr S., location and lend a hand with getting the scouts on the air and qualified for this merit badge. You are also encouraged to operate from home and make contacts with the many scouts from around the world who will be calling CQ this weekend!
